Tonight, I'm going to see the Phils against Dodgers (I have'nt come up with a rude take on their name like I have with other teams.) I'd like to hope it goes well, but I can face the facts: The phillies have no offense, it'll be a terrible game, they might lose, and then there will be some sort of attack on a Dodgers fan (Probably involving some sort of half eaten food and drinks) that, as a Philadelphian who supports Philly sports, I shall have no choice but to partake in.

No, seriously. The Washington GNATionals are now on my list of 'Teams that I hate for no logical reason', joining the Marlins and the Astros. (This is opposed to my list of Teams That I Hate For a Good Reason, such as the SKANKees, the Braves, the Red Sox and the Amaaazing Mets,*)

I have'nt actually seen Vance pitch, but I hope he's what I've been dreaming of. (Someone to replace dead weight Blanton. No, I have no remorse that poor Blanton is injured. He's probably doing the team better be being away than being D:< Anyway, I don't feel too threatened now.The Nationals are't hitting well lately, so it should be a win.

I was there.

Only four more things on my bucket list, then the Lord can take me. (Those three things are 1) shake Roy Halladay/Cliff Lee's hand, 2) catch and own a foul ball hit by Cliff Lee/Roy Halladay, 3) own anything signed by Richie Ashburn/Bubba Church/ Robin Roberts, 4) Find and own one of the felt pennants given out at the games between 1950-1953. You should know why, it's obvious.)

But anyway, it was a great game. It seemed a bit short, but that just might have been excitement. It was tampered by the fact that we got stuck in the section surrounded by drunk college guys, loud, screaming children that would'nt shut up, and two women in our row who got up every 15 seconds to leave and then come back. Even with the pbvious BRIBING OF THE UMPIRE, it was great.

I just think it's kinda of funny how he's trying to spin this. Dude, it's about the money. We know it's about the money. You've already said off camera that it was about the money. So, uh, it's kinda late to try to make it seem like it's not about the money. Unlike you, Some People care about the team rather than the paycheck.

Unfortunately, prudence keeps me from posting everything I wanted to say about this*, but I'm at least happy that all the cliff lee memorabilia that I had at home doesn't have to stay hidden in the basement where no one can know of it.

I'm not superstitious*,

But the tradition is that the Phills had consecutive bad seasons since 1 Liberty Place was built, thus being the tallest building in the city, thus being taller than Billy.And then, they built the Comcast Center, and put a statue of Billy at the top, and then the past three seasons happenned.

I'm just sayin'....

Went out with brother today. It's hard staying inside, too many memories. So anyway, while out, I came across a signed photo of Jim Thome's 400th career home run. Yeah, I said Signed. It might be a reproduction, I'm not sure if it's a real signature, but I'm happy to have it. Only, with the addition of that and a Roy Halladay poster, the small space that I had originally set apart to put up Phillies related memorabilia and the like is quickly turning into an entire wall in my bedroom. D:

When I find my USB cord, I'll post a photo of the monstrosity.

I have hit the jackpot.

Well guys, it looks like my troubles are officially Over.

Because today, Joe hit the sports memorabilia jackpot.

Today, I went to Girard avenue, between 63rd and 62nd, to get a chair I saw thrown out.* It was gone, but I saw a pair of ice skates sitting in a box on the corner. There were about six large boxes. Anyway,I went to get the skates, and that's when the magic started happening. The skates were signed. They were signed by Bill Barber, who played on the Philly Flyers in both of their Stanley Cup championship wins. As any normal person would have done, I almost had a brain aneurysm.

As I went through the apparent junk in the boxes, I started finding gold: Signed photographs of individual players, rosters, posters (some signed) game programs,workout schedules,etc.I found things signed by Charlie Leach, Bob Kelly, Ed Van Impe, Gary Dornhoefer, and a program and an autograph book, both signed by the entire Flyers starting roster.There's also some sort of orange card with Bobby Clarke on it. It says "You were there!" and 100 points. It looks rather like a fake check, or a large fake bill. I also have a 1974/75 issue of NHL Action Players, the stamp album. It hasn't been filled out. By then, of course, I had had several heart attacks brought on by shock.

Oh, but it gets better. While I am certainly a real** Flyers fan, All of you who are sane know that I'm a Phillies fan to death. I would kill several people if needed, If I could own something signed by Greg Luzinski, or Ron Shcueler, or, by some miracle, Jim Kaat.

And guess what I found?

A 1972 Phillies yearbook, a 1976 Phillies Magazine,a ticket to the Phillies VS. Mets game of June 1,1981,  a press field pass for the same game, a small signed photo of Steve Carlton (My favourite pitcher from the 76' Phillies)  and two pages from some sort of sports magazine signed by most of the 1970 and 1976 Phillies starting rosters.                                       He's not a Phillie, he was a Met, and later a Cub (Where he had his best season in 1970), but I have a medium-sized signed photo of Jim Hickman.By then, I was  ready to pass out.

I have a large color photo of Larry Csonka, and some Iggles memorabilia too. (Mostly magazines) and some Sixers memorabilia. (Mostly programs.) I have one game program from 1973/1974, which has some signatures on the cover. I haven't read the signatures yet, so I don't know whose they are. I have a think book-sort of thing from Super bowl IX (1975) 

Now, some of this stuff absolutely cannot leave this house. It will stay here till I leave this mortal earth. I guess I could sell some of it, but I don't know what any of it is worth exactly, or who to contact about selling it. The Phillies stuff and two of the signed photos, I plan to keep unless I get a really good offer on it.

I also found (and fellow Star Trek fans will freak the same way I did) a signed photo of George Takei and DeForrest Kelly, signed by those two as well as  Majel Barrett.

So, uhh.....I don't know what to do, besides recover from the health conditions brought on by the finding of this stuff.

* It was nice. Sort of a dark cherry, and the style matched the furniture in my room.
