This is unforgiveable.

This.

Geno's?

Genos?!

Where's the neighborhood pride? Jim's is much better, besides being a little cheaper.I think that Geno's is greasy, and the roll gets soggy. Also, the three times that I went, the onions were burnt. This is all besides the owner's, um...less than savoury character. Yeah, I'll put it that way.

Blah, I'll make reparation for them though. Friday isn't a day of fast or abstinence this week because S.Joseph's feast (really it's a solemnity) so I'll be going to the Proper place™ to get a Proper Steak™.

Damn printer.

These past two days, I have been going through the WORST computer hell that I've even experienced.

So, I bought some ink for my Kodak ESP-3 yesterday. This is NOT a printer I would have wanted, but my dad thought it was a good deal and bought it. Well, I got home with the ink yesterday at around 2:30 PM. I worked on the printer attempting to print things until well after 12:30 midnight. Straight.Without a break. And no dinner. The stupid thing only printed blank sheets, one after another. Then It finally printed, but it printed so lightly that I thought I was looking at the reverse side of my sheets where the ink might have soaked through.I of course turned them over expecting to see the real images, only to find that this light, almost invisible thing WAS the image. It didn't print any text either. I did test sheets from the control panel, same thing. The printer does nothing whatever when I clicked the 'maintenance' icon. After the first three hours, I got an acceptable print. The images were a bit lighter than I would have wanted, and the text was a bit small, but I can live with the first and I can change the second.
So we're good, right?
Wrong.
Immediately after that, I tried to print my document. Blank pages and almost invisible images yet again. I spent the next few hours changing the settings, checking to make sure the cartridges were in place properly, making sure the printer head was in right, etc. Same problems. Around 12:36, I quit and went to bed.
Then I overslept and missed mass and the office.
I decided again to see what I could do. I went back to Kodak's diagnostic site. The first test did nothing to help. Some Google searching made me think that the printer head might be dried out.I took it out and looked at it.
It is most definitely Not dried out.
I let the printer clean it automatically about three times.Tried to print again, but still not different. The tech sites I visited suggested that it might be clogged or dirty, not dried out. Too bad the 'maintenance' icon is unresponsive, else the printer could have cleaned the printer head itself.
So I fiddled around and worked with things till around 11:36 today.

Then, an epiphany.

I went back to Kodak's site and went through the step-by-step solutions and repair a second time. This time, however, the things it suggested were exactly what my problems were. They prompted me to print a demo sheet. It came out okay. So I tried to print my document, same problems. I went back and changed one answer, and continued. Once again, the suggested errors were exactly what was actually happening. They said that the printer head is defective, and once I supplied the correct information, a new one would be sent to me free of charge.

I hope to God that It works, because It'll take me forever to attempt to hand copy those chants. I doubt I'll get it done in time.
And yes, please, please, please answer the post above this.

KTHNXBAI.

*Slams head on the desk*

*Sigh* One of my friends from school has started spelling words differently in order to be more gender neutral. She sent me an e-mail with 'woman' spelled as 'womon' and 'person' spelled as 'persyn'.The Grammar Nazi in me will not accept such abuses of the English language. It's not that so much that I'm against the use of gender neutral language*, as it is that I'm against the creation of gender neutral words by raping words already in existence for a political or social crusade. Especially when there is little logic to actually changing said words.

Take 'person' for instance. In an effort to remove male-oriented language, the already neutral word 'person' is seemingly further neutered by removing 'son' from it, 'son' being a male word.Only, that's like, Totally Wrong™, dude.
Because etymologically, 'Person' comes to us from middle English through French, From the Latin 'Persona', originating in the Greek word prosopon. I.e., there is no etymological connection between the 'son' in 'Person' and the actual word 'Son', which comes to us from Middle English through Old High German, from the Greek sungenis. There is no reason to change 'person' to 'persyn', because the words 'person' and 'son' have NO etymological connection other than the fact that they both ultimately originated in Greek.
That's it.
'Persyn' is a Word Fail™.
The same with 'human' (Changed to 'humyn'), which I formerly thought was already gender neutral, but which I've also seen furthered neutered. This despite the fact that 'Human' comes to us from Middle English directly from Latin (humanus) where the 'man' in humanus is not specifically male oriented.(Even if it is masculine in gender.) the English word 'Man' does'nt even come to use from Latin. It comes to use from Middle English originating in the Old English mon. Latin 'Humanus'.Old English 'Mon'. two languages, two completely different etymologies.
It's therefore also a word fail.™

Now if you don't mind, I'm going to retreat to my lair, where everyone is a Grammar Nazi and they speak the received English language properly and don't ignore etymologies or proper spellings because it makes them feel nice.

*Nothing here, nope. But good to see you followed the asterisk!

I wonder what they'll say to me though?

At my last weekend with the brothers, we were getting dinner at a mall after the Walk for Life, and some of the kids* asked them the question they (rather obviously) always get: "Hey, are you guys the Ku Klux Klan?" I guess it comes with the habit: an outward sign of your religious vocation, and being constantly mistaken for the KKK. And I was there when they said it. Me, an obviously not white person. Me, an obviously Black person. And they still asked. I was joking with the brothers that we should have said "This is the new, more inclusive organisation. We're more liberal and fair."

So when, God willing, I make my vows and receive a habit, what are they going to say to me? I'm obviously not in the KKK. I assume they'll think that I'm muslim, since there are no less than three mosques in the neighborhood, and many of the muslims guys where white as well as black. I'll have facial hair by then, so It'll just complete the look.

And won't that be awkward. Mistaking someone who belongs to this order to be a Muslim. Irony of Ironies!
*Those were some, uh, Interesting kids. Yeah, interesting is the word I'll use. I'm generally not afraid of people wearing goth/punk clothes, 'cause they're for the most part suburban posers who've not been immerssed in the actual culture. But these people, they were scary.

I just saw the worst vampire movie ever made.

No, it wasn't......that series that dare not speak it's scream inducing name.

My brother convinced me to watch The Lost Boys yesterday on G4. It was awful. Maybe that's just because it was from the 80's and almost everything was wrong with the 80's, but it was really stupid. And the bathroom scene with the dog? What's up with that? What sane vampire goes after his own brother, or what sane human being sees someone being attacked by a dog and says "What are you doing to my dog!!??" Um yeah, I'm getting killed by him. I thought that was somewhat obvious.
And everything written here about it is completely true.
The only redeeming quality is the soundtrack.

It it just me, or this seriously Ironic?

I'm talking about the soon to come translation for the Roman Missal.

The chief objection to the new missal is that it's too hard for people to understand. It uses big words, it doesn't use everyday common speech. They claim you need a Masters in English and a Latin degree to understand it, and that those who aren't educated will be left out.

But there's a blatantly obvious contradiction of facts here. The vast majority of churches made of working or lower-class people, many of whom don't have a great deal of education use what type of bible? The King James, of course. A translation containing such easy to understand passages as:

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse."
(Rom.1:20)
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life."
(John 5:24)
"For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant by many thanksgivings unto God."
(II Cor.9;12)
" I speak as concerning repreach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold ( I speak follishly) I am bold also."
(II C or.11:21)
" Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines, for it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace, not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein."
"For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error."
Etc, etc.
A translation containing such common place words as "expediency","straitly", "quickeneth" "determinate", "beseech", "gainsaying", "wot", or "Behooveth".
Unless they think that Catholics are dumber than protestants, in which case I could provide numerous examples of "Hard words" from various childrens missals and childrens prayer-books, and even some things copied from a service sheet from Philly's own historically black parish, S.Peter Claver.
But either way, I think the point stands: The group of people they think will be lost with the new translation are using (and have been using) the very langage they object to!
And another anecdote: I was once looking through a hymnal published by GIA, and noticed that in almost all the gospel hymns they had included, the 'thees', 'thys' and other old words I remember from childhood had been removed. Apparently it's good enough for the people who came up with the music, (Who, Surprise! tended to be black people without a great deal of education.) but it's too hard for educated suburbanites.

NOOOOOO!!!!!

I just died quite a bit inside.

I hope, I really, really hope that they don't ruin any of the series. I can't see a company like Disney putting out something like, oh say, The Trial of Thor or Deadpool. I'll grant that they probably won't make major cuts or changes to storylines, but if they do go ahead with any of the movies that Marvel was going to make, they're going to bastardise them beyond recognition. ( Thor isn't exactly PG-rated, you know.) I can see all of Marvel's characters, or at least the more famous ones being pimped to death in one of Disney's many over-expensive, craptastic theme parks. Oh, and that above is'nt how I'm feeling about this.
What I'm feeling is more akin to THIS.

At least this reminded me what I can spend my birthday money on.

Apologetics Fail.

LULZ.

You know, proving the validity of one of your opponents two sources of evidence (Which evidence is sometimes used as evidence of the validity of their first source of evidence) is Probably Not a good way to try to support your own arguments.
I'm just sayin'....

It's quite ironic.

Pres.Obama likes to refer to the stimulus package as another version of FDR'S New Deal.
But doesn't everyone know how badly that turned out, actually prolonging the Great Depression?
Well, it's no surprise when he's saying that we're in the worst economic crisis since the great depression, even worse than it.
Reactionary much?
I also think the Kool-aid's wearing off, with his approval ratings down, the stimulus package being in the low 30's.
No matter, I still offer my Thursday rosary for him. Interestingly, the Obama shrine in my school's atrium looks less extravagant than before. There are;nt any flowers there any more.

Crusades.

Debating the crusades online right now. I'll have a transcript later.
*EDIT*
so far it's a waste. I cite dates, names, professors, documents from actual crusaders, etc, etc, and he just says the logical equivalent of "LOL CATLILICS DID ITLOLOL!11!ONE!!!!!1111!!"
he refuses to acknowledge any other factors leading to the crusades and denies that Muslims ever attacked Europe or tried to conquer it, saying that big, powerful Christian Europe attacked the poor, peaceful defenseless Islamic east, who were tinkering with their inventions, just trying to make the world a better place.
Good Lord, Is this what they teach in college?
how is it that an untrained highschool kid can know more facts and generally have a better grasp of logical debate and knowlegde of history than a college trained man?
It's a travesty. Travesty, I say.

* SECOND EDIT*

Read the whole debate here. You'll know who I am because I'm the person with the colorful avatar who questioned his assertion that Catholics "Decide what Jesus said and what he didn't say" at 7:15 PM.
